The probe is secured to your cheek and connected to a small recorder that you carry with you.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>The next 24 hours.<\/strong>  You go home and follow your usual routine. This is key: the study is only useful if it reflects a normal day, with your usual meals and schedule. <\/p>\n<p>Throughout the day, you record three things on a piece of paper or on your device: when you eat, when you go to bed, and <strong>every time you experience a symptom<\/strong>. That record is what allows you to cross-reference your sensations with your measurements. <\/p>\n<p>The next day, the probe is removed\u2014in a matter of seconds\u2014and the data is downloaded.<\/p>\n<h2>Preparation<\/h2>\n<p>Preparation is determined on a case-by-case basis, but generally involves:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fasting for a few hours before the procedure<\/li>\n<li>Discontinue certain medications that affect stomach acidity in advance, <strong>always as directed by your specialist<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Wear comfortable clothing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The timing of medication is important and should not be decided on your own: stopping it when you shouldn&#8217;t have, or continuing it when it should have been discontinued, can invalidate the study.<\/p>\n<h2>Frequently Asked Questions<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Can I eat?<\/strong>  Yes, and you should do it as usual.
